How would you create engaging content that appeals to college students?

I would create engaging content for college students by making Uber feel like a natural part of everyday campus life instead of a traditional ad. My focus would be on authentic, story-driven moments that students immediately recognize, such as leaving a night class when it suddenly starts raining, finishing a group project after the campus shuttle has stopped running, or heading home from a late study session at the library when safety and convenience matter most. In each piece of content, I would show a clear before and after: the problem of not having a car, dealing with bad weather, being short on time, or not wanting to walk alone at night, followed by the solution of quickly opening the Uber app and getting a ride in minutes. To highlight value and affordability in a way that feels natural, I would include on screen text showing split fares with friends, quick app screenshots with price estimates and arrival times, and subtle comparisons to the time and stress of waiting for unreliable buses or paying for parking. The filming style would be casual, vlog-like footage captured on my phone as I walk through campus, hop into the car, and show short clips of campus at night or on weekends. I would use simple edits, jump cuts, and trending but low-key audio that already fits TikTok and Instagram culture among students. Throughout the content, I would emphasize safety and convenience without sounding preachy by briefly showing features like driver details, checking the license plate, and sharing trip status with a friend, framing these as smart self care choices when students are tired, carrying groceries, or traveling alone. The language would match how students actually talk, using hook phrases such as “POV: the campus shuttle betrays you again” or “Things that just make sense as a college student: ordering an Uber instead of walking twenty-five minutes with three heavy bags.” Captions would stay conversational while clearly mentioning Uber Rides and including calls to action like “Save this for your next late-night study session” or “Tag the friend you always split rides with.” Altogether, my goal would be to create content that feels like a friend sharing how they realistically get around campus, positioning Uber Rides as the go-to choice for convenience, affordability, and feeling safe.

how do you plan to track successful and unsuccessful content strategies?

Successful and unsuccessful strategies start with what the algorithm initially promotes, but the real insight comes from looking at what people do after they’re shown the content. The first signals are reach and views, but the deeper, more important layer is behavior: watch time and retention, completion rate, replays, and high-intent engagement like saves, shares, and profile or link clicks. Over time, the plan is to review these analytics weekly, look for patterns in what consistently outperforms the baseline (hooks, topics, formats, editing style, video length, CTAs), and compare them to posts that get initial distribution but quickly die because people drop off or don’t engage. That mix of “what the algorithm tests” plus “how humans actually behave with the content” is what guides doubling down on winning concepts and cutting or reworking the ones that are underperforming.
