From my experience, the best way to problem solve is through trial and error. This has especially become clear to me now in medical school, where I realized my study techniques were not being as effective as in high school, because the Italian system is very different from the Brazilian - being composed mostly of oral exams. Hence, I have had to overcome this issue by trying out different techniques, until eventually I found that the best fit for me is repeating subjects out loud as if I were explaining them to someone, so that when I come to the exam I have already practiced speaking out loud about the subject.
