Can you describe a successful TikTok campaign you were a part of and the strategies that made it successful?

At Frederick County Public Libraries, I helped lead a TikTok mini-campaign tied to our Giving Tuesday initiative. We wanted to highlight how community donations directly impacted real people. Instead of traditional ads, we created short, emotional videos using trending sounds and captions that told personal stories like a student who used the library’s free Wi-Fi to complete college applications. We kept each video under 30 seconds, added compelling text overlays, and timed posts around peak engagement hours. The key strategies were storytelling with heart, using platform-native trends, and showcasing authentic faces from the community. The result? Higher engagement than any of our previous posts, increased donor interest, and a ton of positive community feedback.

How would you approach creating engaging content for a TikTok audience interested in budget-friendly shopping?

I’d focus on quick, relatable, and visually satisfying content that blends entertainment with value. For a TikTok audience into budget-friendly shopping, I’d create: Mini hauls with price tags and where-to-buy info (“$30 Target finds that look expensive”) Side-by-side dupes of popular high-end items (“Why spend $100 when this $12 version looks the same?”) Day-in-the-life or challenge videos (“$20 grocery haul – here’s what I ate for a week”) Quick hacks/tutorials (“3 apps that’ll save you money without coupon clipping”) Using trending sounds, captions like “you NEED this,” and adding humor or storytelling keeps it native to the platform. Consistency + authenticity = growth.
