While I don’t have formal sales experience, I have developed many transferable sales skills through my work in bars and hospitality. In a fast-paced customer-facing environment, I regularly build rapport with people, understand their needs, recommend products, and create positive experiences that encourage repeat business. I’ve also gained experience upselling drinks and promotions, handling objections professionally, and communicating confidently with a wide range of customers.

Describe a time you successfully followed up to close a sale.
While working as a bartender, I regularly used follow-up and relationship-building skills to increase sales. One example was with a group of customers who initially ordered only drinks. After checking in with them throughout the evening and making sure they were enjoying their experience, I learned they were celebrating a special occasion. Based on that conversation, I recommended a premium bottle package and suggested food pairings that fit their preferences.

When convincing a client to choose your merch brand over competitors, I would focus on understanding the client’s specific goals first rather than immediately pitching products. By asking questions about their audience, budget, brand image, and desired outcomes, I can tailor my recommendations to their needs.
