How do you hook viewers in the first 3 seconds of a retail video?

I’d hook viewers by starting with something that immediately sparks curiosity or feels relatable. On TikTok especially, the first few seconds have to feel like something people want to watch, not an ad. For example, I might start with a quick statement like “I just found the best snack at Target and I didn’t expect it.” That immediately gives people a reason to keep watching. Another approach would be showing the product right away and saying something like “If you like chocolate but don’t want a sugar bomb, you need to try this.” I’d also use quick visual movement, like grabbing the product off the shelf or pointing to where it’s located in the aisle. That helps the video feel fast-paced and natural instead of static. The goal is to make viewers feel curious enough in the first few seconds that they want to see what the product is and why it’s worth trying.

How would you create engaging retail content ?

For retail content, I would focus on making the experience feel authentic and easy for viewers to follow. A lot of people want to quickly understand what the product is and where they can find it in the store, so the video should feel natural but still informative. For example, I would create a short in-store style video showing where SkinnyDipped products are located on the shelf, pointing out the section or aisle so it’s easy for shoppers to recognize when they go to the store. I would also highlight the packaging and flavors so viewers can quickly see what stands out. I’d keep the video engaging by filming it in a vlog-style format, almost like bringing the viewer along while I’m shopping. That way it feels less like an ad and more like a genuine recommendation. I’d also include quick visuals like picking up the product, showing the texture or taste, and briefly explaining why it’s a good snack option. The goal would be to make the content feel relatable and helpful so viewers can easily imagine themselves finding the product in store and trying it.
