Share an experience that highlights your ability to build strong relationships.
When I was a math tutor for Grade 10, a lot of my students felt awkward and uncomfortable in asking for help. Through talking to them, about my own life, the classes I was taking, and sharing relatable moments in my life, I was able to establish to them that I was someone they can share stuff with and receive zero judgement. From there my students would tell me more about school and their person life. I noticed that they felt comfortable to ask all their questions and admit if they didn’t have the previous knowledge for that particular unit. They realized I would help them and listen to them. Through talking to them and taking 10 mins out of our 2 hour sessions to just get to know the students I met with every week, they opened up and that allowed them to get the best out of our sessions because they felt comfortable. It showed that truly the basis to a strong relationship is the level of comfort and if you feel the other will perceive you in an open manner.
