I changed my laptop and lost a lot of my files so here's an essay entrant I have: Hey Me, No, you’re not the world’s richest person and no you’re not a billionaire. You haven’t even made a million, yet. No, there’s no one living on Mars, but it is in the works, they say. Do you want to know how life is now? I’ll tell you. There was a tsunami the other day, it destroyed so many many homes and so many people are missing or worse, dead. It’s bad Euodia, it’s really bad. You and everyone else in 2020 thought it would take a lot more years for the Earth to buckle down but no it came way sooner. I remember you wanted to build a greenhouse in your back yard but dad and Jo laughed you off; I wish they hadn’t, I wish you had it built, I wish for so many things but I don’t know if it is too late. It’s really difficult to find organic fruits and vegetables now, every farmer is using chemicals to help their crops grow quickly. Apparently, the motto is “The brighter, the better.” I wish it wasn’t though. Your mum had food poisoning the other day from some carrots she ate; it wasn’t her fault though, that’s all they sell now. You should see how orange they were, they looked tanned! No one is allowed to have more than one pet. Many of them are going extinct and more are kept in a national reserve for breeding. The vegetarians were right. It’s really horrible to see the rate at which animals and wildlife are being killed. It’s devastating, to be honest. You should really take up your idea of being a flexitarian. The oceans are a sight! There are many groups and NGOs trying to clean out the ocean but people are stubborn. Half of the Indian ocean is filled with plastic, the Great Barrier Reef is being exploited and the sea creatures are dying. No one really knows the full extent of the damage being done to the ocean because the media won’t show us. Why, you may ask, no one really knows. On the flip side, there are some great innovations that are being used currently, for instance, almost half of the world is using solar energy now. It’s actually a lot more efficient and so many multi-millionaires and businessmen are cashing in on it. You even own a share in one of such businesses and it’s profiting massively. Technology is crazier now, no one hardly works as an Uber driver now. Cars, along with taxis and buses are self-driven. You remember you had a secret fear of it malfunctioning one day and crashing, well you sat in one yesterday and you were absolutely terrified but it didn’t fail or malfunction, you were so impressed. The economy has really benefited from technological advancements I must say. Technology is dominating a lot of things now. Apple is still at it. Stop trying to ask your parents for the iPhone 12 because you’ll be pleased to know you use the latest iPhone now and it is mindblowing. You’d be really happy to see this Euodia, you really will. More students have resorted to online schooling, it is funny, considering how you really wish they scrapped the idea of going to school. Life is a lot easier yet the earth is a lot worse. Life huh...it’s crazy to think you spent so much time thinking about your future and everyone was giving you a lot of pressure but you’ll find out pretty soon that all the answers were right under your nose the whole time. Don’t stress too much on your future. Let me tell you; LIVE WHILE YOU’RE YOUNG! Have fun, break rules, explore new avenues and make new friends. Trust me, it’s not too late to do something about future earth, you have a plan to start a recycling centre in the community do it! Go ahead with all your plans because right now, everything is gone haywire. You have to believe in yourself! You’re doing great as you right now and you have to give yourself some amount of credit.
