Walk me through an automated email or DM flow you have built from scratch. What platform did you use and what did it trigger off of?

I have not done this before, but if I had to do this now, for a customer who added a product to their cart but didn't complete checkout, this would be my approach: Klaviyo detects the situation automatically through the Shopify integration. 1 hour later - Email 1: "You left something behind." (A reminder with a photo of the exact product they left) 24 hours later - Email 2: Show the same product with reviews from real customers (social pressure). 72 hours later - Email 3: 10% off, expiring in 24 hours (added incentive and time pressure).

Which tools do you prefer for automating email campaigns and why?

Klaviyo for Shopify — it's built around behavioral data, so flows trigger on actual customer actions rather than schedules. For AI-specific capability, I'd layer in tools like Smartlead or Instantly for outreach, or use Klaviyo's own AI features for send-time optimization and predictive segments. The reason I prefer behavior-based tools over broadcast tools like Mailchimp is to avoid sending the right message to the wrong person at the wrong time.

How would you use AI to improve a Shopify customer journey?

I would focus on three pillars to improve a Shopify customer journey: personalization, prediction, and continuity. I would use AI to tailor the store experience to each visitor, predict behavior to automate the right message at the right moment, and connect Shopify, email, and social so the journey feels seamless.
