I’d integrate scent customization into a social activity, like a ‘Scent & Chill’ night in a common area or during a club mixer. Friends could build scents for themselves or for each other, which makes it more fun and interactive. It becomes less about shopping and more about creating memories together, which is what students really connect with.

Why do you think customizable fragrance experiences resonate with Gen Z consumers?
Custom fragrance resonates with Gen Z because we value personalization, experiences, and authenticity. Creating your own scent feels more like self-expression than shopping, and the experience itself becomes something worth sharing with friends or on social media. It turns fragrance into a memory, not just a product.

How would you share your fragrance experience authentically with your audience?
I’d authentically share my fragrance experience by turning the process into a story—showing the consultation, the trial-and-error of finding notes that fit my personality, and how I actually wear the scent day-to-day. I’d create short-form content (TikToks/Reels) around first impressions, scent layering, and how fragrance fits into my campus lifestyle, while being honest about what surprised me and what I loved. My goal would be to make Olfactory NYC feel accessible, personal, and fun.
