Gave a flu vaccine. Shots will always be even a bit painful and can be scary for some or nothing to others. But there are small things that can make the process more simple. On the needle itself there is a small part at the tip. In order to make it least painful as possible you have to have bevel up at all times. When going in you have to make sure to not go to fast but also don’t drag it out. When holding the persons arm you have to consider whether the pinch or pull taut the skin. So although the process itself is quick for the patient, I have to pay attention to the way their arm is positioned, whether I pull the skin taut or pinch, what area to place in order to miss bone, make sure bevel is up, and to make sure to be go in and go out in a timely fashion. All of those tiny details happen in the matter of a few seconds, but can make or break the patients day.
