How do you hook viewers in the first 3 seconds of a retail video?
I think it's important to have text on the screen that draws in their attention. It should also have good lighting and music/talking so that people will be hooked and continue to watch it.

How would you create engaging retail content ?
I would put text on the screen that has a strong hook like "RUN to Whole Foods-SkinnyDipped is HERE". I would then show the store entrance and myself going to get a bag of it and checking out. Another type of content could be a weekly grocery haul edition where SkinnyDipped is part of that weekly haul and then talk about how I love it and when I eat it.
