How would you approach designing a web app to maximize usability while keeping it aesthetically appealing?
There is a balance between usability and aesthetics. Usability deals with the functionality, clarity and accessibility, being user friendly. users don't suffer to use your app and aesthetics being the visual delight, branding and vibe.
Research and user understanding: using personas to define the target market-their goals, expectations and their limitations.
Informative Architecture and wireframing: organizing logical content and making a skeleton of the app, using sketches or figma grey boxes to know the layout and hierachy. And also keeping navigations predictable.
Usability principle(Heuristics or Golden rules): some like Visibility of system status. That makes the users know the state of the app, consistency in designs and error prevention and recovery.
Layer clean. consistent and brand-aligned design
Add interactions and purposeful microinteractions like hover
Test with users and iterate (i.e prototyping)
Document and collaborate with developers (i.e implementing the design)
Improving it continously for post-launch
