Imagine you have a limited budget and resources to promote As I Am on campus. What innovative strategy or event would you propose to create maximum impact and engagement?

I would simply start a support group! I would ask all natural women/men to come together to discuss the every day struggles that we encounter. I would host events such as the “durag” festival to normalize these types of things at a PWI.

As I Am celebrates natural beauty and empowerment. How do your personal values align with our brand's mission, and how would you convey this alignment in your role as a Campus Ambassador?

I feel as a campus ambassador I would create a safe space for natural women at a PWI. In a lot of cases, natural women struggle to find that support and products that are offer locally.

Describe a time when you encountered a diversity or inclusion challenge related to natural hair or beauty standards on campus. How did you address it, and what was the outcome?

My freshman year, I wore my natural hair in the cutest “puff” (btw it took what seemed like hours to do!). On campus during this particular summer, there were a lot of controversy about “privilege” in comparison to racism so, emotions were at an all time high. One young Caucasian female asked to “pet” my hair after class, I simply told her that my hair was not an exhibit nor a freak show. The next couple of days, I’m the course we spoke about professionalism and corporate America acceptances, of course “ethic” hairstyles were the topic. During the entire class, I stood firm on that there is not such thing as ethic hairstyle!
