I worked on a farm and promoted the many uses of fruits and vegetables such as natural remedies through Instagram posts in hopes to raise awareness.

I think that I would be a good fit for this position because I am a socially active person on campus. I am in plenty of clubs on campus such as the Genetics' club and the wildlife animal conservation association. I also work on campus as a peer mentor for students who have intellectual disabilities. Through my involvement with different clubs and my on-campus job, I have been able to gain plenty of connections and gain friendships with a diverse group of people.

Since I am currently a junior in college I am often asked by peers what I want to do once I graduate. My response to this question is that I want to be a genetic counselor, and that is usually met with confusion about what is a genetic counselor. It is through these conversations that I have been able to bring awareness and persuade people to look into genetic counseling and have heard stories from people who sought out testing based on our conversations. Most people often think that genetic counseling is only if you desire to form a family but it is so much more than that. Genetic counseling consists of assessing your genetic risk and learning more about yourself. It can help to bring awareness if you or your family or at risk for any genetic disorders and how to adapt with that knowledge for the future.
