What do you enjoy most about attending your schools football games, game day events, or live/watch parties?

There are so many elements when it comes to sporting events at the University of Michigan, but the overall culture that I'm able to be a part of is what I truly relish the most. Witnessing exciting plays on the field, watching your team win, and gathering with friends are rather small things that add up to create one unified culture; it establishes an unique sense of togetherness and true belonging to a tight knit community.

Please share one experience you've had around college sports on your campus?

Throughout my three years so far on campus here, it's been striking just how much Michigan-related individuals, whether it be alumni or current students, identify with the sports and entertainment culture. Similar to most Big 10 schools, it's not a stretch to say that Michigan is sports and sports is Michigan; it's almost impossible to find anyone on campus who has not attended a single Michigan football or basketball game — it's simply part of your identity here. In addition, it's easy to notice how various cultural aspects, like sports, can bring together so many people, with the University of Michigan being home to such a diverse student population. With this in mind, I've helped organize large-scale viewing events for Michigan sports on campus as part of various sports/culture student clubs in a broader attempt to foster a community-like setting; we all know how much sports matter to us, therefore it is essentially in our hands to take full advantage of sports' influence on our cultures and community.

How can NBCU's streaming platform Peacock show up in a relevant way on your campus?

Home to one of the most diverse student populations in the nation, the University of Michigan offers a wide variety of marketing and ambassadorship opportunities. One of the first things that come to mind when imagining the overall brand of Michigan is "sports" and "entertainment". Throughout my three years so far on campus here, it's been striking just how much Michigan-related individuals, whether it be alumni or current students, identify with the sports and entertainment culture. Simply put, Michigan is sports and sports is Michigan; it's almost impossible to find anyone on campus who has not attended a single Michigan football game — it's simply part of your identity here. With NBCU’s Peacock now simulcasting Big Ten Saturday Night games starting from the 2023 season and even having the rights to broadcast eight exclusive games, students here at Michigan will rely on the platform to watch games at home and further their at-home entertainment; not to mention the plethora of other sports streaming on Peacock such as the Premier League, NFL, MLB, and even the IndyCar Series. As a student focusing on marketing within sport management, I have been involved as a board member with various sports/entertainment and cultural organizations; I hope to make Peacock relevant at the University of Michigan by utilizing these avenues. Whether it is rather simple strategies such as sports watch-events at student organizations to grow further awareness of Peacock or slightly more complex techniques such as developing campus-wide digital media marketing strategies, I am confident that Peacock will be able to leave a mark here at the University of Michigan in various pathways. In students’ perspectives, most of their actions are based on the level of convenience. With Peacock available via Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Playstation 4, and even Apple TV, there are so many ways to cater the platform to students, as most already possess at least one of these mediums and use it on a daily basis. Even with Peacock already being one of the leading OTT platforms on the market, it has something to offer to all students; who doesn’t love staying home on a tiring night and enjoying your favorite TV series, drama, or sports event?
