How would you approach building up Reddit karma authentically and meaningfully within a short timeframe?
As Reddit’s self-promotion guideline famously says: “It's perfectly fine to be a Redditor with a website, it's not okay to be a website with a Reddit account.”Firstly, i would go beyond looking at larger subreddits like r/jobs, r/employment etc. and focus on more niche ones r/resumes, r/interviews, r/cscareerquestions - which have comparatively lower user but still significant for initial growth and engagement. each subreddit would also require a tailored approach, for example, for r/jobs, I would play the role of an expert with zero self promo, for r/resumes I would provide detail oriented/personalized advice while also hinting towards the service. (To name a few).To build up engagement i would participate and be a part of the conversation without changing it. Any mentions of the platform would also be used sparingly durning the early stages, while elements like comments would be consistent - daily. I would aim to either answer a question, solve a problem or support someone in a meaningful way, following the 9:1 rule (9 non-promotional contributions for every 1 mention)I would also be mindful about the type, tone, quality and frequency of content, avoiding Reddit’s spam filters while ensuring authenticity.
