We'd love to get to know you, tell us a little bit about yourself (i.e what are you studying, what are your hobbies, what do you like to do on your free time, etc)
It's great to connect! I'm Ciara, a 23-year-old first-year medical student here in Galveston, Texas, proudly representing the first generation in my family to pursue a career in medicine. My journey is quite unique, as I also navigate life with ADHD and Ankylosing Spondylitis, which profoundly shapes my approach to both my studies and my well-being.Academically, my focus is entirely on medical rigorous training, diving deep into everything from anatomy to clinical skills. Beyond the textbooks, I'm passionate about making this demanding path more accessible and transparent for others, which is why I've built a vibrant online community, GradGirlShop, across TikTok and Instagram. There, I share authentic insights into medical school realities, effective study strategies (especially with ADHD in mind!), and navigating demanding academic goals while prioritizing health. In my free time, fitness and wellness are absolutely central to my life. Managing Ankylosing Spondylitis necessitates a highly active routine, so you'll often find me engaging in various forms of movement – whether it's active recovery sessions, hitting the gym, or simply exploring the beautiful Galveston area. I love to cook healthy, nourishing meals, often experimenting with gut-friendly recipes. I also cherish downtime with my two beloved cats, who frequently make appearances on my social media as my "study buddies." It's all about finding that crucial balance between intense academic pursuit and dedicated self-care to ensure I'm not just surviving, but thriving.
