How would you encourage your friends or peers to start saving more money?

I’d encourage peers to save by breaking it down into simple, realistic steps and focusing on consistency rather than perfection. Understanding cash flow, automating savings, and tying savings to clear goals helps make the habit sustainable. From a finance perspective, saving is about building resilience and optionality small, consistent actions today create flexibility and opportunity in the future.

describe your Interest/knowledge of finance and/or investing.

My interest in finance and investing is rooted in both academic training and applied experience. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, where I’ve developed a strong foundation in financial reporting, analysis, and how financial information supports strategic decision making. I’ve also gained exposure to investing through my experience with HP Tech Ventures, where I evaluated early stage companies using an investor lens assessing business models, market opportunity, risk factors, and strategic fit. This experience deepened my understanding of how capital allocation decisions are made in practice, particularly in venture and innovation-driven contexts. In addition, my work in accounting internship and simulations (including PwC and Ernst & Young programs) has strengthened my analytical skills and reinforced my interest in finance as both a technical discipline and a tool for long term value creation. I’m especially interested in how financial systems and investment decisions can be used responsibly to expand access to opportunity and drive sustainable impact.
