Tell us about your haircare journey!
My haircare journey has been deeply personal. I was diagnosed with alopecia areata, and for a long time, I tried everything I could to grow my hair oils, serums, supplements, DIY treatments, anything that promised hope. It was a tough and emotional process, especially when I felt like I had no control over something so tied to identity and confidence. But with time, consistency, and care, I’m proud to say I’ve been able to completely regrow my hair. That experience shifted my mindset. I began focusing less on “fixing” my hair and more on nurturing it with products that support scalp health, reduce breakage, and simply make me feel good. Haircare became a form of self-love and empowerment. That’s why I connect so strongly with JVN Hair’s mission of inclusivity and joy because haircare should be about feeling confident, celebrated, and supported at every step of your journey.

Can you share a previous experience where you successfully promoted a brand or product to a diverse audience?
One standout experience was when my team and I won the St. Louis AMA Marketing Case Competition, where we developed a strategic campaign for Dance St. Louis, a performing arts organization. The objective was to create a marketing plan that would attract a broader and more diverse audience to their dance performances. To do this, we conducted research on target demographics, identified gaps in outreach, and proposed creative solutions like community partnerships, social media activations, and student-focused promotions. I helped lead the effort in shaping messaging that was both inclusive and engaging, designed to resonate with people from different backgrounds and age groups. Our campaign was praised for its cultural awareness and realistic implementation, and it ultimately won first place. That experience taught me how to tailor brand messaging to meet the needs of a diverse audience, something I carry with me in every promotional or ambassador role I take on.

How would you approach engaging with customers to drive traffic to in store events?
To engage customers and drive traffic to in-store events, I would take a proactive, enthusiastic, and customer-focused approach. As a Tulu Event Ambassador, I gained hands-on experience promoting events and interacting with a wide range of people in high-traffic environments. I learned how to quickly build rapport, clearly communicate key brand messages, and create positive, memorable first impressions that encourage people to take action, whether that’s scanning a QR code, following a brand on social media, or physically attending an event. Additionally, winning the St. Louis AMA Marketing Case Competition taught me the importance of tailoring messaging to your target audience. I would use that insight to customize my approach for each interaction; asking thoughtful questions, understanding individual hair care needs, and positioning JVN Hair’s products as both relevant and exciting. By combining approachable energy, clear product knowledge, and strategic messaging, I would not only encourage foot traffic but also leave customers genuinely curious and excited about the JVN Hair brand.
