I once had a huge issue at an event I was hosting when I worked with a political consultant firm. This was in 2021 when COVID restrictions were still in the process of lifting, and the company I worked for hosted a hybrid event. We severly underestimated the amount of people that would be physically attending, and we id not have enough food, seats, or space for them. So I took it into my own hands to find a solution.
I ended up in the kitchen helping to craft individual plates instead of going buffet-style as intended to ensure everyone got something to eat, I ran to the store nearby to get plenty of drinks and some finger foods so nobody would notice, and I moved around the set up of the entire space so that there was a central dancefloor where people could mingle so that most people would be on their feet and the lack seating was not an issues.
I made do with what was available to me, and it ended up being one of the most successful political events the company ever hosted.
