If Uber were to host an activation on campus during March Madness, what would be your best idea for the brand to uniquely engage students?
1. Interactive Games:
- Driving Simulator Race: Set up a fun virtual reality driving game where students can experience being an Uber driver navigating through a city to pick up passengers and drop them off at basketball games, avoiding "roadblocks" like traffic or detours.
- Night Out Navigation Game: Create an obstacle course where participants "help" their friends safely get home from a night out by solving fun puzzles or trivia questions about safety, budgeting for rides, and Uber features (like split fares).
- Mini Basketball Shootout: A March Madness-inspired twist where students score points by sinking basketballs into themed hoops, representing different Uber perks (UberX, Uber Black, Uber Eats, etc.).
2. Live Experience of the Brand:
- Showcase a branded “Uber Lounge” for students to relax. Include phone charging stations, water, and snacks (courtesy of Uber Eats).
- Offer free promo codes for first-time riders or discounted rides during game nights to encourage safe transportation.
3. Prizes and Giveaways:
- Participants can earn points in the games, redeemable for Uber swag (hats, water bottles, tote bags) or free ride credits.
- Grand Prize: The student with the highest score gets an all-expenses-paid trip to the Final Four games, with Uber handling transportation.
4. Social Media Integration:
- Create a branded hashtag, e.g., #UberHoops, and encourage students to share their experiences for additional prizes.
- Set up a photo booth with props like Uber-branded basketballs, jerseys, or "game night" vibes.
5. Live Demonstrations:
- Educate students on Uber’s safety features, such as PIN verification and in-app emergency assistance, in an engaging way during the games.
This activation aligns perfectly with the excitement of March Madness, emphasizes the convenience and safety of Uber, and builds a strong connection with the student demographic.
