what beauty brands do you love on social and why?

Haus Laboratories by Lady Gaga holds a special place in my heart because of a past collaboration I've done with them. I really enjoyed how authentic the brand's voice was to Gaga's persona as an activist and LGBTQ+ ally. This includes spotlighting Black and Brown makeup artists and even allowing Trans makeup artists to take over their account. Not to mention, with a rise in singers creating beauty brands, Haus Labs also created an exciting product campaign rollout that worked alongside Gaga's album single rollout. Therefore finding the intersection of marketing, music, and beauty. Rare Beauty is another brand that I love on social media, as well, because it also finds authenticity through Selena Gomez's influence. Rather than being all about numbers and pushing users to buy something, both of these brands highlight unedited and genuine behind-the-scenes footage in the brand's day-to-day operations. They also encourage creativity and subvert our expectations of marketing through the personal touches that their respective founders – Gaga and Selena – create. Lastly, an overlooked beauty brand that I especially love is The Unseen Beauty. Founded by a materials designer and scientist, what I particularly love about their social media account is their focus on the grittier side of makeup and beauty that subverts gender normativity, beauty standards, as well as the expectations of makeup/beauty products in general. While all having dramatically different approaches to their social media strategies, these beauty brands all resonate with their audiences through innovative techniques and a drive to explore the unique characteristics of those who have found a personal resonance with their products, message, or mission.
