During this past semester, my team participated in the annual BTE hackathon. Our task was to use AI and the skills we’ve learned in class to solve an issue we’ve been noticing around campus. Our final product was a website that makes the sanitation records for restaurants/cafes near NYU transparent and easily accessible.

Throughout the brainstorming and implementation process, I took the lead, keeping everyone organized and productive. I became the person who delegated tasks and kept the team updated on various responsibilities and any timeline shifts (we had a new member join us halfway through the project). As a result, we were able to finish the website before presentation day. While other teams were rushing to build out basic framework, we had extra time to add special features (a detailed filter by severity of violation and the ability to search by street), scope out the competition, and practice presenting the our findings as well as live demo in under 3 minutes.
