One of the most effective ways is to create consistent, high-quality content that encourages interaction — things like reels, carousels, or stories with polls and questions. Pair that with using relevant hashtags, collaborating with accounts in your niche, and engaging genuinely with your audience (replying to comments, sharing user-generated content, etc.). Posting at times when your audience is most active and maintaining a clear, recognisable brand style also helps attract and keep followers.

One campaign I analysed that stood out was Spotify Wrapped, which succeeds by combining personalisation with shareability. Each user receives customised insights about their listening habits, creating a sense of pride and connection, while the built-in social sharing feature effectively turns users into brand ambassadors. The campaign drives engagement through FOMO, strengthens brand loyalty, and demonstrates how making content feel personal while encouraging organic sharing can be far more impactful than relying solely on paid promotion.
