Social Media Content Creator Intern

Describe your experience creating video content for Instagram or TikTok.
Previously, I was a Content Creation Intern with the Appalachian Baseball League, where I handled video production and photography projects from start to finish. I filmed and edited game highlights, behind-the-scenes content and conducted player interviews on tight deadlines to keep pace with daily coverage. I regularly followed players to capture their stories, both on and off the field, and edited videos quickly for same-day posting across social platforms. I also covered major events like the 2024 MLB Draft Combine, creating content that offered fans an inside look at the league’s connection to the next generation of professional baseball. This role pushed me to think creatively in fast-paced environments, allowed me to sharpen my interviewing and messaging skills and strengthened my ability to tell meaningful stories and manage end-to-end content production. At Mizzou, I served as a Creative Video and Social Media Intern for the volleyball and gymnastics programs, which was where I truly developed as a social media strategist and storyteller. I collaborated closely with our video lead and creative team to see projects through from concept to final edit, including brainstorming ideas, planning shoots, operating camera equipment and editing content in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom and Audition. I helped produce hype videos, player features and social media content around major events and match days, often managing the entire production process myself. Additionally, I put together graphics for recruiting and informational purposes using Photoshop and InDesign. I also launched TikTok accounts for both teams and helped grow their followings by over 400% in the first year. In collaboration with coaches, athletes and the creative team, I developed content that balanced personality and professionalism while aligning with each program’s goals. Additionally, I held a communications role with Mizzou Athletics, where I wrote press releases, previews, recaps and feature stories based on statistical research, giving me a strong foundation in messaging and storytelling aligned with organizational goals.Through other coursework, I also worked as an Account Manager and marketing strategist for several clients. I contributed to campaign development and research for brands like Course Creators HQ, Midwest Dairy and Cognizin. This role gave me experience managing budgets, analyzing audiences and working under tight deadlines. One project I led was an NIL social medi

How do you stay ahead of social media trends?
The biggest way I stay ahead of social media trends is through consumption and conversation. I'm always asking my friends and family what media they've been consuming, what they've been seeing. I also do a lot of scrolling myself, and follow brands and creators that are always in the loop. Additionally, I find that many trends come from media outside the social space, like shows, movies, sports or music, so I pay attention to those as well.
