How can Beyond spread the word about their plant-based options on your campus? Feel free to share any big ideas!
In my opinion, the vast majority of UCLA students already passively support Beyond Meat’s mission and values, but are hesitant to switch to plant-based products due to common misconceptions, such as the false notions that meat alternatives are more expensive, require complicated preparation, or lack the same level of flavor. As a vegetarian of over six years, I believe that any decrease in meat consumption is a positive step, and the rigid “all or nothing” approach to veganism often hinders progress. As a result, this movement’s key emphasis should be directed toward mobilizing active engagement both within and outside of the plant-based community. Firstly, I propose the implementation of diverse campus events and demos, such as plant-based cooking demonstrations or workshops offering free samples of Beyond Meat products. These workshops could be hosted alongside the UCLA Teaching Kitchen’s FITWELL Program, a campus organization dedicated to educating about nutrition, addressing food insecurity, enhancing cooking abilities, and fostering community involvement through both in-person and virtual single-session workshops. Another way to implement this is to set up interactive booths around campus where students can taste Beyond Meat products, learn about their benefits, and engage in fun activities or games related to plant-based eating. Certain student clubs, including, but not limited to, Veg Bruins, Be Green Bruin, and UCLA Cooking Club, could co-host events focused on sustainability, health, or ethical eating, in which Beyond Meat products are featured. Within these clubs, Beyond Meat could organize a recipe competition among students in which they must create innovative dishes using Beyond Meat products. The winning dish could be featured on Beyond Meat’s platforms (website, social media, and even on product packaging), as well as in campus eateries for a limited time. Similar to the previous idea, as a college consistently ranked #1 for best campus food, one essential strategy is to collaborate with UCLA's dining services to create special Beyond Meat menu items in the dining halls and campus eateries and promote these options through digital menu boards and posters. For example, UCLA’s VeggieGrill already utilizes Beyond Meat products, and by officially partnering with it, Beyond Meat products will likely experience a significant surge in popularity. We could even take this one step further by partnering with the UCLA Store’s market to offer limited-time discounts or promotions for students who choose Beyond Meat products. The UCLA Store could also create co-branded merchandise (t-shirts, reusable bags, water bottles, etc.) featuring Beyond Meat and UCLA logos, which will be given away as prizes, provided as incentives, or sold on campus. Finally, I would launch a simple social media challenge encouraging consumers, especially all student ambassadors, to create and share their own Beyond Meat recipes with a specific hashtag for tracking and visibility. When real people share visually appealing food photos on their personal accounts, it attracts genuine attention and generates tangible interest. As a whole, while we must focus primarily on viable methods, I believe such creativity is also crucial to significantly enhance the movement’s progress.

What poppi flavor would you be (or make up!) and why?
I would definitely be Raspberry Rose because it serves as the perfect balance between simple and sophisticated. It's strong yet lightweight, without being too overpowering.
