From a young age I have naturally stepped into leadership positions whether it was in the classroom, sports teams, or among my peers. As I grew older I realized the ability of being a leader can show up in many different versions. To me being a leader means encouraging others through actions, example, or even words. Entering college, I assumed the position on my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma's executive council as the chapter marshal. In this role I was in charge of initiation, ritual events/ceremonies, and educating our members on Kappa's legacy. But to me, the duties of marshal extended further than just putting on and organizing events, it was a chance to be someone other members could look up to, lean on, and come to in any situation. In college, these years can be challenging for many. It is guaranteed to encounter moments of struggle, growth, change, challenges, as well as incredible opportunities, people, and memories. As a leader and role on my executive council I was able to be there for my sisters and empower and remind them that they can do hard things and are worthy. Even after I my term as Marshal was over the relationships that were built with members both younger and older than me remain strong.
