Can you share your experience creating engaging short-form content for TikTok or Instagram, along with 2–3 links that showcase your filming style or aesthetic?

Over the past year I’ve developed a workflow for creating short videos (30-60 seconds) for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, focusing on strong hooks, dynamic visuals and on-screen text to hold attention. I start each video by identifying the “moment of intrigue” — for example, the swirl of cream on top of a drink, or the reveal of a product on the shelf. Then I capture crisp close-ups and use quick-cut edits (often 0.5-1 second per shot) to maintain pace. I always film vertically (9:16) since that’s optimized for mobile and full-screen playback, and I keep the total length under 45 seconds to match user attention spans. In post production I add overlay text, brand colours, and ensure the audio track is lively but not overpowering. I pay particular attention to the first 3 seconds (the “hook”)—if viewers are still watching past the 5-second mark, I’ve hit the hook right. On the analytics side I track completion rate, average watch time, and engagement rate (likes/comments/shares) to refine future edits. I’ve also learned that filming in well-lit environments with consistent background and minimal distractions is key: clear visuals, simple backgrounds, and the subject (product/ingredient) front and centre. For my at-home recipe video, I would create a cozy and aesthetic coffee-inspired drink using Whipnotic as the highlight. The video would show me making an iced caramel coffee topped with a swirl of Whipnotic for a fun, flavorful finish. I’d film in my kitchen using my tripod setup, focusing on the textures and swirl to make it visually satisfying. The video would have calm, upbeat music and short text overlays showing the simple steps — brew, pour, swirl, and sip. The goal would be to show how easy it is to turn an everyday coffee into a café-style treat using Whipnotic right at home.
