do you have access to a professional camera and editing software?

Yes, I have access to a professional camera and editing software. I use my Fujifilm X-T50, which allows me to capture high-quality, detailed images with full creative control over settings like lighting, depth, and focus. For editing, I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to fine-tune my photos and ensure they match the brand’s aesthetic while maintaining a clean and professional finish. These tools help me bring my creative vision to life and deliver content that feels polished, intentional, and brand-aligned.

Can you provide an example of a product photography project you worked on?

Yes, a recent photography project I worked on involved capturing graduation portraits for friends who just graduated from Columbia University. While not a traditional product shoot, it still required me to think critically about lighting, composition, mood, and editing to tell a story through each image. My goal was to reflect not just the moment of graduation, but the pride, joy, and resilience behind it.I planned each shoot around the best natural lighting, helped with posing and styling, and later edited the photos to enhance their warmth and clarity while keeping everything true to the setting. This experience helped me strengthen my eye for detail and taught me how to bring out the essence of what or who I'm photographing. That same level of care and storytelling is something I would bring into a product photography project. Whether I’m working with people or products, I focus on creating visuals that feel intentional, emotionally resonant, and aligned with the purpose behind them.

How do you ensure that your product photography aligns with a brand's mission and values?

To ensure my product photography aligns with a brand’s mission and values, I always begin by understanding the story behind the product. For Companion Candles, that means capturing the feeling of kindness, comfort, and conscious living. I take time to study the brand’s tone, visual identity, and purpose so that each image feels like a natural reflection of what the company stands for. When creating content, I focus on atmosphere and emotion. I use soft, natural lighting and thoughtful styling to highlight the warmth and intention behind each candle. Whether it’s placing the product in a cozy reading nook, near a morning cup of tea, or beside meaningful objects, I aim to make the viewer feel connected to the experience of using the candle—not just the product itself.I also make sure the images reflect the brand’s cruelty-free values and attention to detail. This might mean highlighting clean ingredients, sustainable packaging, or simply showing how the candles bring peace and stillness into everyday life. I ask myself throughout the process if the content feels true to the brand’s message of kindness. For Companion Candles, I would create 15 images that are not only visually cohesive but emotionally resonant. My goal is to make kindness come to life through every photo, helping others see these candles as more than just products, but as small acts of care.
