Interview Questions
SOMOS Foods
Reddit Brand Advocate for SOMOS Foods

Do you have an active Reddit account? If so, how do you participate in discussions?
Yes, I do have an active Reddit account. I mainly participate in discussions around personal interests such as food, fitness, student life, career development, and sports. I enjoy reading different perspectives and contributing when I feel I can add something meaningful to the conversation.
When I engage, I focus on being genuine and conversational. I share personal experiences, ask thoughtful questions, and respond respectfully to other users’ insights. I understand that Reddit communities value authenticity, so I avoid overly polished or promotional language and instead aim to contribute in a way that feels helpful and natural.
If representing a brand, I would be transparent about that relationship while continuing to participate in discussions in a way that prioritizes community trust and value.

How would you engage a Reddit community authentically about a new food product?
To authentically engage a Reddit community about a new food product from SOMOS Foods, I would focus on contributing to conversations in a way that feels transparent and community centered rather than promotional.
As a first generation Mexican American student, food has always been closely tied to culture and identity for me. I understand the difference between marketing language and genuine appreciation for traditional flavors. I would use that perspective to speak thoughtfully about the product’s ingredients, inspiration, and convenience without exaggeration or sales language.
On Reddit, I would participate in relevant communities such as plant based food, meal prep, college cooking, or regional food threads. Instead of leading with “try this product,” I would share a personal experience or recipe idea that naturally incorporates SOMOS. For example, I could post about quick weeknight meals that balance convenience with authentic flavor, while clearly disclosing brand affiliation to maintain trust.
I would also prioritize engagement in the comments by answering questions about taste, texture, preparation, and cultural inspiration. Reddit users value honest dialogue, so being responsive and open to feedback is essential.
The goal would be to position SOMOS not just as a product, but as part of a broader conversation around accessible, culturally rooted food that fits into busy modern lifestyles.

Would you post on Instagram or TIk Tok?
I would prioritize TikTok as the primary platform for the “Secret Eats Sunday” series because of its strong organic discovery and high performance for food and lifestyle content. TikTok’s algorithm allows content to reach beyond existing followers, which is ideal for engaging the broader UT Austin student community.
I would then repurpose the content for Instagram Reels and Stories to maximize engagement and reinforce visibility. Instagram Stories would allow for interactive elements such as polls, ratings, and Q&A features to drive student participation.
By leveraging both platforms strategically, I would ensure strong reach, engagement, and consistency across the UT Austin audience.
