I would firstly ask the customer if they can wait for at least 2 weeks and try my best to contact the designer and ask them if they can have it ready on time otherwise i would help the customer browse for similar pieces and help them find another one

I would contact the customer immediately and listen to their concerns. Remembering that customer is always right i would apologise and try my best to accomodate them for their loss
