Do you have any sales experiences / what are some traits you feel make you a great fit for this?

I worked in management consulting for four years, which required continually selling the company brand to clients. I was also lead of recruiting for my undergraduate alma mater, where I engaged with student candidates and pitched my firm as the consulting firm they should pick. This was 'sales' in an intimate, 1:1 conversation setting - it required authenticity, empathy, and making candidates feel like they were heard while representing my company's goals and values.

In terms of traits:

  • I'm a pickle lover so I can put my money where my mouth is

  • I'm friendly and genuine - I don't like pushy sales tactics and am confident I could come across as persuasive without being pushy

  • I'm professional - I know how to represent a brand well

  • I'm obsessed with pop culture and social media trends, and I've studied consumer behavior in psychology and marketing classes. I know how to read people and what will speak to them

HOw would you make sure to hit all your sales goals? (ex: make sure 6 of each flavor sell off the shelf)

I would try creative ideas to encourage trial and help people envision using the product in their regular lives. I think a way to get people to try flavors is to go beyond regular samples and offer something extra - for example, encourage them to try 'pairings' with each flavor. I also think that people tend to try a flavor that looks popular, so I would limit the amount of product visible to the consumer - even if it's not the fastest selling flavor, it may spark demand by sparking scarcity mindset.

If creative ideas aren't working as expected, I'd ask consumers for feedback about what would make them likely to try one flavor over another and adjust my strategy based on their insights.

How would you approach engaging with shoppers to promote Hot Girl Pickles effectively?

I'd engage people with a lighthearted question that catches their attention - similar to street interviews on TikTok. It could be something like "do you know the secret to staying hot?" or "true or false - hot girls love pickles" Once I have their attention and they respond, I would pull out the product and relate it to the question - for example, "after skincare, the secret is eating hot girl pickles". I'd then encourage them to try the product and ask for their feedback - if they react positively, I'd encourage them to take a jar home to share with their friends / their partner / their next charcuterie board. If relevant, I'd add that they would be an early adopter of the 'next big thing'.
