Product Testing

What are important considerations for you when reviewing a product?

When reviewing a product, I always try to view the product holistically and balance varying factors along the value chain. For example, if it a pair of socks: how did I find out about the socks? How was my purchasing experience? How much were the socks? How was the customer service? How quickly did the socks come? How is the marketing/packaging? How does the sock physically feel (soft, rough, fit)? How does the sock look (color, length)? How do I feel wearing the sock (cool, comfy, supported)? I would also attempt to ask my friends their opinions and incorporate that into my review.

If you were given 300 Aquaphor products how would you share them and get the word out within your campus community?

At my university, we do an event called Winter Carnival where students receive discounted tickets to go to the mountains and ski. If I received 300 Aquaphor products, I would team with my university to give them out to students who are going to be hitting the slopes since Aquaphor products are great for dry days on the mountain! The group already receives traction every year with marketing since it's a long-standing tradition so I would partner with them for marketing and to get the word out. I would also explore ways to give it out to students who attend our hockey games - again, a cold ice rink is a great place to have Aquaphor and DU is pretty good at hockey, so the games have great attendance.

You don't like the product, how do you proceed with this gig? Who do you notify and what steps do you take?

If I did not like the product, I strongly feel as though it is my responsibility to share that with the company. I would notify the contact that initially reached out to me and follow the guidelines given in the instruction document for submitting feedback. By sharing my thoughts, I will help create a diverse perspective for the company to consider and enable the company to potentially improve their product and cater towards a wider audience.
