What's one content area of opportunity you'd first implement after starting this position?

If I were to start a position and identify a content area of opportunity, I would initially focus on TikTok growth and leveraging more up-to-date and engaging trends that have a higher chance of virality and feel more personal to the audience. TikTok has emerged as a powerful platform for content creators, offering a unique opportunity to reach and engage with a vast user base. By tapping into TikTok's immense popularity, I would aim to create content that aligns with current trends and captures the attention of viewers. Staying up to date with the latest viral challenges, dances, and memes would be crucial to maintaining relevance and appeal to the platform's audience. To achieve growth on TikTok, I would emphasize the importance of authenticity and relatability. By developing content that feels more personal, relatable, and genuine, I believe we can establish a stronger connection with TikTok users. This could involve showcasing behind-the-scenes footage, sharing relatable stories, or even collaborating with popular TikTok influencers to expand our reach. Additionally, I would actively engage with the TikTok community by responding to comments, participating in duets, and creating content that encourages user interaction. Building a sense of community and fostering a dialogue with our audience would not only help increase engagement but also provide valuable insights into their preferences and interests. Furthermore, I would closely monitor TikTok analytics to identify patterns, assess content performance, and refine our strategy accordingly. By analyzing metrics such as views, likes, shares, and comments, we can gain a deeper understanding of what content resonates most with our audience and optimize our approach.Overall, by focusing on TikTok growth and embracing the latest trends with a personalized touch, we can establish a strong presence on the platform and effectively capture the attention of a wider audience.

Please share any relevant past experience making you qualified for this role.

I have been passionate about digital media marketing and social media in general for quite some time. I’m currently a marketing student at the University of British Columbia, and my career goals are to be involved with a digital media marketing agency. So to say I enjoy social media would be an understatement. I am currently the VP of Marketing for The Women's Network-UBC, where I create feed and story templates for our Instagram, positioned to engage and excite our members and possible new members. I also create Tiktoks/reels highlighting our events and recapping our values. I have spent the past year as the director of social media for my sorority, meaning myself and the marketing portfolio created marketing strategies for our organizations Tiktok, Facebook, and Instagram. The mission of this role was to highlight the accomplishments, personalities and interests of the girls within the chapter and exemplify the diversity we have. During my time in this role, I was able to ameliorate tiktok engagement from the average view count of 300 per video to 3500 per video. I just recently was promoted to the VP of Marketing for my sorority and now have the opportunity to gain experience in the same fields but as a leader rather than a committee member. I also held the position of social media manager for the Tsawwassen and Kitsilano locations of Oxygen Yoga and Fitness. This primarily included setting up and running the studio Tiktok account and helping create content to be posted on the Instagram account. This was an independent position, but I had to work collaboratively with the studio owner for certain aspects and platforms. I am also a candidate in the Nordstrom Fashion ambassador program, where we have monthly seminars on different aspects of the fashion industry. For example, we’ve had meetings on digital media marketing, Linkedin and networking platforms, understanding the target audience of content and mentorship in content creation roles. I have had the opportunity to participate in countless seminars and events surrounding the ideas of content creation, whether it be Tiktok content, effectively marketing on Instagram or benefits of different social media platforms.

Overall, success in my previous roles have gone beyond mere vanity metrics. It involved building a strong online presence, engaging with the target audience, maintaining a positive brand reputation and staying ahead of the curve through innovation and adaptability.
