How do you stay updated on Instagram and TikTok trends?

I have TikTok and Instagram accounts, where I monitor trends through my feed/for you page. I use both of them frequently, so it’s very easy to stay in the loop. I have 218.2K likes on TikTok that I’ve accumulated through using trends, whether it be audios, photo slideshows, or funny/witty content. It’s important to know a target audience when promoting a product, so staying in touch with trends are essential for the success of a brand.

What attracts you to influencer and social media marketing?

I’ve always had an interest in social media marketing since I was in high-school. I held three positions on student council throughout my high school years, all involving marketing and the promotion of our merchandise and events through social media. In my freshman year during Covid, I came up with the idea to sell teddy bears for Valentine’s Day and promote them through Instagram and newsletter, raising our graduating class over $900 (a big number, as our graduating class was only 51 students)! I found that I enjoyed connecting with audiences through social media channels, and enjoyed sharing creativity about myself on my personal profiles. I decided by my junior year that it was something I wanted to pursue professionally. I now major in communications and attend the University of Connecticut, where I major in communications and minor in personal brand entrepreneurship. As digital marketing has become more prominent, the best channels to promote products and reach target audiences are platforms like TikTok and Instagram. At college, I currently hold two marketing positions, Content Distribution Manager for UConn Student Television, and Social Media Marketing Intern for UConn Dining. Both of these roles have confirmed my interest in pursuing the social marketing industry. As a young adult in the digital world, I’ve noticed how successful product advertisements are through channels like influencers (UGC creators), TikTok shop, Instagram Reels, and personalized ads on Google/other websites. I’m so interested in this field because it’s always evolving, challenging, and prompting me to think outside of the box.
