I've promoted my bakery items in person a ton of times and I have also promoted samples of drinks in store before as well

How would you engage a shy customer during a demo?
I'd start with a nice greeting/warm welcome to kinda break the surface, then maybe ask them an engaging question to get them comfortable and chatting with me! I could also start with a funny joke/hook to lighten the shy-ness.
