Remind them that their role is important, incentivize them to WANT to do the work, and reward them accordingly for getting tasks completed efficiently and to the company standard.

Shock them! Tell them something they don't know yet or something that will turn their existing beliefs upside down. Then, of course, you need to explain how this new thing they learned can improve their life in some way!
