what does wealth mean to you? (no wrong answers!)

I believe wealth means time. When you have comfortable wealth you have the opportunity to save an immense amount of time. As someone who has struggled with money for a lot of my life, I have seen a lot of time wasted on the difficult payments, debts and sunk costs. I am looking forward to a future where I am able to save time and spend it on family and friends instead.

share how you'd encourage students to save and plan for long-term wealth.

I would encourage students in many ways:

  1. Planning: having a proper plan for spending, budgeting, and saving is the most important step.

  2. Choosing priorities: there are so many thing to spend money on in college, its Important to figure out what your priorities are as an individual.

  3. Flexibility: I wish more students understood that there is still so much to embrace when not spending money! When utilizing flexibility in activities and purchases, you increase your long-term wealth.

What part(s) of personal finance do you think every student should know?

I think every student should understand high-growth accounts because they’re one of the easiest ways to build wealth early without doing anything complicated. Knowing the difference between a regular savings account and options like high-yield savings accounts or investing accounts helps students make their money work for them instead of just sitting there. Learning about interest, compound growth, and how starting early can make a huge difference over time is such an important foundation!
