I still remember receiving my first journal, a mini red Moleskine, for my 13th birthday. Since then, I now consider my journal to be an extension of myself. I reach for it almost everyday, and it contains everything from diary entries, to sketches, to scrapbook items, and anything else in my head that needs a place to live. As someone who prefers to process their feelings independently, writing through directed prompts has been extremely helpful in understanding and reprogramming my emotions. As an art student, it has been my creative assistant and a home for any and all sources of inspiration. Ever since receiving that first red Moleskine years ago, journaling has played an essential role in helping shape who I am today.
