How Syracuse Sophomore, Mattingly Weisholtz, landed her first internship through H\FC

Last March, during my 8 AM business law class (when I was supposed to be paying attention to my professor), I found myself scrolling on my Mac, looking for something to keep me awake. That’s when I stumbled upon HomeFromCollege.com. I had literally never heard of it before, but it claimed to connect students with internships and job opportunities. I was immediately intrigued.

Unlike other internship websites that felt overwhelming or super out-of-touch for me at the time, Home From College was designed for students just. like. me. The site was extremely easy to navigate, the opportunities were relevant, and everything was geared toward helping Gen Z build a good resume experience. As I scrolled through their listings at the time, one caught my eye: "Alii Supplement is looking for a content and marketing intern."

I thought, "Why not?" and sent in an application without expecting anything at all.

The best part? Home From College made the application process so straightforward. I didn’t have to jump through a million hoops to apply. Everything was simple and student-friendly.

A few weeks later, I got an email telling me I landed the internship! I couldn’t believe it. Through Home From College, I found a role that let me write scripts for Alii’s social media reels, think of marketing strategies, and help promote campus events — all while working remotely from my freshman-year dorm bed. The experience was creative, flexible, and exactly what I needed to develop my skills in marketing and PR.

Home From College isn’t like other job platforms.

Here’s why it worked for me:

  1. Everything on Home From College is posted for students. The internships are easy, remote-friendly, and designed to fit into a student’s life and make them money. (I have made thousands.)

  2. No complicated forms or endless steps when you apply. I found the job I wanted, clicked "apply," and answered three questions, and that was it. Simple and stress-free.

  3. The internships and gigs listed aren’t boring or generic. They’re cool, interesting, and actually help you have real-world experience. Whether you're into marketing, design, business, or tech, there’s something for everyone.

Because of Home From College, I spent my summer learning skills like content creation, marketing strategy, and social media engagement. I gained so much confidence in my abilities and discovered what it’s like to work in a real marketing environment, while of course, balancing my other commitments like exams and homework.

If you’re a college student and you are trying to figure out where to find internships, I simply cannot recommend Home From College enough. It’s fully designed to help you succeed, with opportunities that make sense for your life. And, it’s not just about getting a job — it’s about building your skills, your brand, and your future.

So next time you’re in class, in your dorm, (or maybe a little bored), give Home From College a scroll.

You never know what opportunity might be waiting for you!
